Coffee Points:

Coffee Storage: Air is a coffee bean's worst enemy. Store ground or whole beans in an airtight container in a cool, dark place - but not in the refrigerator. Freezing protects flavor integrity, so you may freeze excess beans over longer periods of time.

Welcome!

The East Coast Barista and Coffee School (ECBCS) provides the tools needed for planning, financing, equipping, managing and operating a specialty coffee business.

Located in Charlotte, NC, a city known for international business, professional sports and NASCAR, the ECBCS fits right into the burgeoning culinary culture that calls the Queen City home.

We teach a variety of classes that are based on and adhere to the standards set forth by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and the United States Barista Committee (USBC). These organizations took past research and expertise and laid the foundations of what are now established standards for growing, processing, roasting and preparing coffee to exploit the best from this unique agricultural product.

Our school's programs focus on how these standards apply in a day-to-day coffee operation. Whether your organization is a large corporate cafeteria or a small independent café, the fundamentals of great coffee apply the same. We use an operational, main-line coffee shop for our training facility for the best experience possible.

The classes are held during the shop's off-hours without interruption and the students are able to practice on the best equipment available in the industry.

Our instructors are some of the best and brightest trainers in the business and work very hard to make the learning process non-intimidating, valuable and fun.

Our goal and mission is to help you understand and continue to develop your passion for great coffee as you start your journey.
